RIAHS Speaker Series: The Story of the Mark VIII Tank

March 7 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Did you know that the Rock Island Arsenal produced the iconic Mark VIII tank?

That’s right – the Mark VIII not only inspired the tank in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, it’s also remarkably significant to Quad Cities history. Today, only 3 Mark VIII tanks remain in the world. And soon, one of them will be available for display right here at the Rock Island Arsenal!

Join us for the RIAHS Speaker Series Program: “The Story of the Mark VIII Tank” presented by Bob Foster, historian and museum volunteer. Learn about the rich history of the Mark VIII tank, from its production at the Rock Island Arsenal between 1919 and 1920 to its deployment to post-WWI armor training camps.

Whether you’re a history enthusiast or interested in learning about Quad Cities history, this event is for you!
