Celebrating 250 Years
On June 13, 2026, around 250 Rock Island Arsenal military personnel, veterans, families, and community members gathered at the Waterfront Convention Center to celebrate the 251st birthday of the United States Army and 250 years of the United States of America.
Hosted by the Rock Island Arsenal Historical Society (RIAHS), this year’s Army Birthday Ball honored more than two and a half centuries of service, sacrifice, innovation, and leadership, while recognizing the Arsenal’s enduring role in supporting our nation’s defense. The evening drew guests from across the broader Arsenal and Quad Cities communities for a memorable night of dinner, dancing, and historical reflection, capped by the ceremonial cutting of the Army birthday cake. The presentation of the colors and other time-honored traditions served as powerful reminders of the generations of Americans who have carried the Army’s mission forward since 1775.
A Sincere Thank You
The RIAHS extends its sincere appreciation to 10x National Security, the presenting sponsor of the 2026 Army Birthday Ball. Their generosity and commitment to the military and veteran communities helped make this year’s celebration possible and highly successful. We’re also grateful to the Association of the United States Army Rock Island Arsenal Chapter for sponsoring seats for the individuals who provided essential support throughout the evening, including members of the color guard and those who assisted with event setup and teardown. Additionally, we would like to thank Patriots Remembered for donating a beautiful floating American Flag, framed in maple cut down from the Arsenal itself, featuring inset stars and gold leaf.
Thank you to all participating organizations, community partners, volunteers, donors, silent-auction contributors, and guests. Their generosity and enthusiasm made the evening such a success. And lastly, to the Waterfront Convention Center team and everyone who worked behind the scenes to bring it all together.
An Evening with Purpose
History is more than a collection of dates, artifacts, and events; it’s the story of the people, communities, achievements, and sacrifices that have shaped our nation. Preserving that history connects us to the past, deepens our understanding of the present, and ensures future generations can learn from the legacy entrusted to them; a purpose that remained at the heart of the evening.
Proceeds from the Army Birthday Ball support the RIAHS, dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and sharing the history of Rock Island Arsenal and its people. Every ticket purchased, sponsorship provided, and silent-auction bid helps the RIAHS continue this mission.
Preserving the History & Legacy of Rock Island Arsenal
As we reflect on the Army’s 251st birthday and America’s 250th anniversary year, RIAHS is grateful for the chance to bring our community together in celebration of our shared history. We look forward to continuing our work preserving the Arsenal’s enduring legacy and to welcoming everyone back for future events.
Thank you to all who joined us in making the 2026 Rock Island Arsenal Army Birthday Ball an evening to remember. We hope to see you on June 12, 2027, when we host next year’s celebration!
