The Colonel Davenport Historical Foundation (CDHF) has been busy this year with some much-needed restoration work on the historic house and grounds.
West Wing Siding & Window Replacement
The CDHF’s biggest restoration project this year was replacing the siding and windows on the west wing. Precision Builders handled the work, made possible through grants from the Regional Development Authority, the Pritchard Family Foundation, and the RIA Spouse & Community Club, along with private donations from supporters like you.
East Wing Door & Sutlery Roof Repairs
The crew also installed a new door in the east wing and patched several spots on the sutlery’s roof.
New Sutlery Windows
The sutlery got some new windows too. The new window in the east wing was painted white to match the existing woodwork, so it blends right in with the historic character of the building.

About the Colonel Davenport House
Built around 1833 by Colonel George Davenport, the Colonel Davenport House was considered a mansion in its day. It still stands on the north side of Arsenal Island and operates today as a historic house museum, open to the public Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. The Colonel Davenport Historical Foundation (CDHF) maintains the house and grounds and keeps its history alive through tours, educational field trips, and restoration work like the projects above.
